Luggage

For many years my back was sore.
Because of the luggage that I carried
And the chains that were pulling me down
in the dirt.

How do you learn to leave with them?
To wake up more tired than when you went to sleep.
To be someone who tries their best,
Just to be hurt over and over again?

For many years my back was sore.
Full of wounds, bleeding and infected so bad
That my heart got infected
and started smelling.
I was just a woman, pulling my big luggage
trying to take just one more step…

Today, after many years of a sore back.
I ask for my own forgiveness
And beg for one more chance to make it right
Because those years haven't been just about plain pain.
but about me, getting stronger
and adding wheels to my luggage
To carry it easier.
